And he said "Let there be chaos" and there was!

This week has been busy and sometimes makes me wonder if I should just go back to work. Tuesday involved canning green beans and I knew Colton had to take a swim test but thought it was at 1:00 pm. He informs (corrects) me that it started at noon; mind you this is at 11AM. It was a 20 minute drive to get there too. Never mind that James texted me to say sweet corn was ready and he had to go pick it after work. Off to swim, then to Seward to buy the freezer bags I forgot the day before! We get home to find more green beans, a ton of peppers and more work. The canner got a workout and so did I! The corn did manage to find it's way into the freezer that night too.

Yesterday was cleaning and getting some laundry done day. James' mom was coming to visit and well I don't like cleaning very much when the garden is keeping us on our toes. For the most apart it was done and we are at today. Made some laundry soap since we like being frugal, picked more beans and did more laundry. James' mom took Colton for a few hours to have some fun so I am enjoying a little quiet time before he gets home. Somewhere in this I will try to get some more knitting done. I would like to get a wool shawl finished to enter into the fair but I need a quiet and an awake mind to work the pattern. Looks like I will knit a dishcloth for now!

We may go after the beef we had processed this afternoon. All of the work of bottlefeeding and raising a calf from 2 days old to processing should pay off! I plan to can some of the roasts in nice big cubes for beef gravy and dehydrate some of the ground meat for casseroles later this winter.

  1. Whew...I need a nap now. If you go back to work, you won't have this much fun, and Colton will have to go somewhere, and you'll regret it big time...trust me from one who knows!
