Most people take advantage of the fact when they want to pick something up they just do it without putting a lot of thought into it. For people with CMT it is sometimes a challenge to look at a glass of water on the table and pick it up. Sometimes our brains and hands don't communicate well and we find ourselves struggling to do such a basic task. Our hands don't want to open to grasp the glass or worse yet is we are able to pick it up and then drop it! One test the neurologist did when I saw him was held his finger in front of me and asked me to touch it with my index finger. Simple, right? I had to concentrate to make my finger move forward and then concentrate to make my finger line up with his and actually make it touch. So I feel blessed I can still pick up those little pins and put them into the fabric!
Another project I worked on this past week was beaded stitch markers for knitting. I managed to get 5 more sets of 6 made and that was in one afternoon! I would also like to make few sewn needle holders made, but I can't decide on the pattern I want to use! Each type has it's good and bad so it is a matter of finding the best one. I also would like to make myself a larger project bag for my knitting projects. I managed to sew one last week but mailed it away to someone as a Random Acts of Kindness gift; she loved it by the way! So many things to do and not enough time to do it!
James brought home a recipe from someone at work and I made a batch up this weekend. They are not lasting very long! I love them because they are easy and they are versatile. I for the most part had most of the ingredients at home and just need to buy some M&M candies. I didn't have enough pretzels so I threw in some Rice Crispies cereal and I cleaned out the pantry and threw in the half bag of peanut butter chips that were left from another recipe. Just like life they are sweet with just enough salt to make it interesting!
Goodie Bars
10 tbsp butter
2/3 cup peanut butter
10 cups mini marshmallows
5 cups crushed pretzels
4 cups rice Chex cereal
2 cups M&Ms
Melt butter, peanut butter, and mini marshmallows in a large pan over medium heat. Mix with the remaining ingredients in a large bowl. Press into a buttered 11"x15" pan and allow to cool.
